Dr Gavin Johnson
Dr Gavin Johnson is a general gastroenterologist with a special interest in endoscopy, ERCP and pancreaticobiliary medicine. He is a consultant gastroenterologist at University College Hospital, and a senior lecturer in medical education at UCL Medical School. Dr Johnson is the education lead for gastroenterology at both University College Hospital and UCL Medical School, and has developed a number of postgraduate gastroenterology and endoscopy courses. At UCL he is leading a working group to revamp the UCL Medical School curriculum and developing a Masters programme in gastroenterology. Dr Johnson is the editor of UEGF OLGa (Online Learning in Gastroenterology) and an associate editor of Frontline Gastroenterology. He is also a consultant for the GMC, reviewing aspects of their Fitness to Practice procedures. Dr Johnson studied at Newcastle University, and undertook postgraduate training in medicine and gastroenterology in the North East, Sydney and London. In 2005 Gavin worked at the Royal College of Physicians of London, on postgraduate curricula, assessment and the UK electronic portfolio. This work culminated in an MSc and MD in medical education.
